Africa is a continent of 54 countries but we are going to focus on the 7 best countries to visit in Africa. In fact, each country has a specific culture, life style and its own customs. It is indeed, a diverse continent with a lot to offer, reason why it is attracting more and more visitors.  To be more specific, it has one of the fastest growing tourism industry in the world. While each single country in the continent is worth visiting, we are going to talk about the best countries to visit in Africa.

1. EGYPT

Located in the northeast of the continent, Egypt is one of the best countries to visit in Africa. It is certainly a stunning country which history dates back to the 6th–4th millennia BCE. The country is well known for its stately historical monuments such as pyramids, sphinxes, ancient temples, hieroglyphs and more, which attracts many visitors from everywhere around the world. Egypt is also home to many museums featuring items from the pharaonic era. In spite of its past heritage, the country is home to a large number of modern resorts and  hotels. It also offers leisure activities like scuba diving, desert adventures and more. 

Cairo, the capital city of Egypt is famous for its landmarks such as the Egyptian Museum, the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, the Hanging Church, etc.

To begin with, South Africa’s national parks and reserves are home to animals such as elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, lions and leopards. That makes it a top destination for safari. As an example, the most visited parks are Kruger National Park and Addo Elephant National Park.

Secondly, The country has beautiful beaches, especially in Cape town, going from Camps Bay to Boulders Beach. The spectacular underwater biodiversity and the tropical coral reefs, attract many divers and snorkellers. In Hermanus, there are several whale watching centers, allowing visitors to observe these amazing creatures in their natural environment.

Thirdly, the landscapes in South Africa are just breathtaking. First of all, the cities of Marrakesh, Fes, Meknes and Rabat which is the current capital of the country, have preserved  their historical heritage. For example, Marrakesh is famous for its Old Medina, and also its  souks ( traditional markets), mosques and old palaces. Fes is known as the the country’s cultural capital, with its medieval architecture illustrating an old world atmosphere. 

Furthermore, Morocco has beaches along the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Seychelles are an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean. Reason why the Seychelles are famous for their beautiful white sandy tropical beaches and their clear turquoise waters. Tanzania is a country in East Africa. It is a lovely country, well known for its diverse fauna and its amazing nature. Tanzania is home to several national parks, game reserves, lakes, World Heritage Sites, small islands and beaches.

Some of the most popular parks are Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire National Park, Selous Game Reserve, Ruaha National Park,Gombe Stream National Park, Katavi National Park and Mahale Mountains National Park. 

Tanzania is also part of the African Great Lakes Region. Therefore, the country hosts some of the biggest lakes in the world, such as Lake Tanganyika, known to be the second-deepest lake in the world and the second-biggest lake by volume. A part of Lake Victoria, which is the largest of the African Great Lakes and the largest freshwater lake in Africa can be found in the country as well. Tanzania is also home to Mount Kilmanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.

7. BOTSWANA

Botswana is a country located in the southern region of the African continent. With its abundant fauna and flora, the country is a land of adventure, attracting many visitors looking to experience the best safaris in Africa.

One of the main attraction in Botswana is the Okavango Delta, which is an inland Delta. In fact, the Okavango Delta is occupied by many lagoons and small islands. the area is inhabited by a huge variety of wildlife, some of them being the  African bush elephant, lion, caracal, serval, giraffe, African buffalo, hippopotamus, black rhinoceros  and more. The area is also a refuge for over 400 bird species.

Another popular site in the country is the Makgadikgadi Pan, which used to be the seat of Lake Makgadikgadi, that has obviously dried up.
