The Serengeti National Park is a national park located in the Mara and Simiyu regions in Tanzania. It is especially famous for its annual migration of over a million white-bearded wildebeests and also zebras, Nile crocodiles and honey badger. However, the most famous animals in the park are lions, African leopards, elephants, black rhinos and Cape buffalo.

Chobe National Park is Botswana’s first national park, and also the most biologically diverse park in the country. In fact, Chobe National Park is located in northern Botswana, specifically near the vast inland Okavango Delta. It is also Botswana’s third largest park.

Kruger National Park is a National Park in South Africa and one of the largest game reserves in Africa. In fact, it covers an area of 19,485 km2 (12,113 sq mi) in the provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

The park was established as the South African first national park in 1926. Furthermore, it is part of the Kruger to Canyons Biosphere which is an area designated by the UNESCO as an International Man and Biosphere Reserve.

5- OKAVANGO DELTA, BOTSWANA, SOUTHERN AFRICA

The Okavango Delta is an inland delta, precisely an alluvial fan that covers between 6000 to 15 000 square kilometers of Kalahari Desert.

Firstly, it is located in northern Botswana and owes its existence to the Okavango River.

Secondly, all the water reaching the delta is evaporated and does not flow into any sea or ocean.

Finally, it became the 1000th site to be officially inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in June 2014.

6- ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK, NAMIBIA, SOUTHERN AFRICA

Etosha National Park is a national park in northwestern Namibia. It became a game reserve in March 1907 and a national park in 1967. The park covers an area of 22,270 km2 (13,837 sq mi). It was named after the large Etosha pan which is located within the park.

Etosha National park hosts several species of mammals, birds and reptiles.

7- BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK, UGANDA, EAST AFRICA

The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in southwestern Uganda, along the DRC border, near the Virunga National Park and on the verge of the Albertine Rift. The park is only accessible by foot.

It is home to many animals, specifically 120 species of mammals, 348 species of birds, 220 species of butterflies, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos, etc.

Moreover, the park is known for its rich vegetation, including over 1,000 flowering plant species, 163 species of trees and 104 species of ferns.

8- HWANGE NATIONAL PARK, ZIMBABWE, SOUTHERN AFRICA

Hwange National Park is the largest natural reserve in Zimbabwe. It lies in the west, between Bulawayo and the Victoria Falls. Indeed, the park was established in 1928. It is close to the edge of the Kalahari desert, a region with obviously little water and a very scattered vegetation.

In fact, area is home to around 100 mammals and 400 bird species including all Zimbabwe’s protected animals.

9- MOSI-OA-TUNYA NATIONAL PARK, ZAMBIA, SOUTHERN AFRICA

Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It contains half of the Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River, and the other half lies in Zimbabwe.

The vegetation consists specifically of tall riverine forest with palm trees, miombo woodland and grassland. however, the fauna includes Angolan giraffe, Burchell’s zebra, warthog, sable, Cape buffalo, impala and antelope.

10- NGORONGORO NATIONAL PARK, TANZANIA, EAST AFRICA

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a protected area and a World Heritage Site located 180 km (110 mi) west of Arusha, Tanzania. It got its name from Ngorongoro Crater which is a wide volcanic caldera within the area.

The area is also home to several shield volcanoes and the northwest section of the conservation area consists of the Serengeti Plains, the Salei Plains, the Oldupai Gorge, and the Gol Mountains inselbergs.
