EL DJEM AMPHITHEATER
The Amphitheater of El Djem is a historic amphitheater located Tunisia, in the town of El Djem, formerly known as Thysdrus during the Roman era. It was a huge amphitheater with a capacity of 35000 people, built to host multiple kind of events. El Djem amphitheater is one of the best preserved Roman ancient stone building ruins in the world.
CARTHAGE RUINS
Carthage was an important city of the ancient Carthaginian civilization, located on the eastern side of the Lake of Tunis. It was founded in the 9th century B.C. and was a major trading empire in the Mediterranean area. Nowadays, its ruins lies on a hill overlooking the Gulf of Tunis in north-eastern Tunisia. It is an amazing archeological site which attracts many visitors.
GRAND ERG ORIENTAL
The Grand Erg Oriental (Great Eastern Sand Sea) is a large field of sand dunes in the Sahara Desert. It covers a surface of 120000 sq km (74564 sq mi) and a part of it lies in the Southern area of Tunisia. There are local Bedouins offering trekking tours in the desert. It is a great place for a desert adventure.
HAMMAMET BEACH
Hammamet Beach is a great beach in Tunisia. It is located in the northeastern side of the country. It is a sandy beach with places to seat and relax. There are toilets and showers available and the beach and the water are clean. Walking along the beach is also wonderful.
OLIVE TREE MOSQUE
The Olive Tree Mosque, know as Al-Zaytuna Mosque, is a major mosque at the center of the Medina of Tunis in Tunis, Tunisia. It is the oldest mosque in Tunis and the second mosque to be built in the Maghreb region. The mosque has a surface of 5000 sq m (16404 sq ft).
DJERBA ISLAND
Djerba is the largest island of North Africa and belongs to Tunisia. It covers an area of 514 sq km (319 sq mi) with a population of about 163,726. The beaches on the island are amazing.
THE NATIONAL BARDO MUSEUM
The Bardo National Museum (Musée national du Bardo) is a museum in Tunis, Tunisia. It is the second museum on the African continent and one of the greatest museum in the Mediterranean region. The museum contains one of the largest collections of Roman mosaics in the world that have been excavated at the beginning of 20th century in different archaeological sites including Carthage, Hadrumetum, Dougga and Utica.
BULLA REGIA
Bulla Regia was an ancient Berber, Punic, and Roman town that was located near Jendouba, Tunisia. Its ruins and archaeological site features the Hadrianic-era semi-subterranean housing style, which where known to protect from the heat and sun blast. Many of the mosaic are still lying there.
RIBAT IN MONASTIR
The Ribat of Monastir is a ribat (small fortification), located in Monastir, Tunisia. It is the oldest ribat built by the Arab conquerors during the Muslim conquest of the Maghreb and an important site for the city of Monastir. It was established by the leader of Ifriqiya, Harthama ibn A’yan in 796. There is a tower open to the visitors, allowing a view on the city.
PARC DU BELVEDERE
The Belvedere Park is the largest park in the northern part of the city of Tunis. It was built by the landscape architect Joseph Laforcade at the end of the 19th century. It is considered an oasis of freshness in the city, covering a large space with walkable and drivable roads, and many plant species such as pines, palm trees, ficus, eucalyptus, olive trees, and more.
