It was the largest country in Africa and the Arab world by area before the 2011 South Sudan’s secession. The capital of the country is Khartoum.

MEROE PYRAMIDS
Meroe was an ancient city on the east edge of the Nile, about 200 km (124 mi) north-east of Khartoum. It was the capital of the Kingdom of Kush for many centuries. The site of the city of Meroë contains over two hundred pyramids in three groups, of which some are in ruins. They have the particular size and proportions of Nubian pyramids.
NILE STREET
The Nile Street is one of the longest streets in Khartoum city, stretching along the blue Nile river. There are Ministries, wonderful hotels, villas and restaurants along the street. There is too much traffic, especially during rush hours but it is a great place for a walk along the river and it is very animated in the afternoon.
GEBEL BARKAL
Gebel Barkal is a very small mountain located some 400 km (248 mi) north of Khartoum, in Sudan, on a large bend of the Nile River, in the Nubia region. The mountain is 98 m (321 ft) tall, with a flat top. Both the mountain, and the historical city of Napata, were listed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 2003. Jebel Barkal was used as a royal cemetery during the Meroitic Kingdom. Jebel Barkal Museum is an important landmark.
NAQA
Naqa is a ruined ancient city of the Kushitic Kingdom of Meroë located in Sudan, about 170 km (110 mi) north-east of Khartoum. Naqa is one of the largest ruined sites in the country and is a proof that an important ancient city existed in the area. It served as a bridge linking the Mediterranean world to Africa. The site was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011.
ALSABALOUGA (SABALOKA GORGE)
Al Sabalouga is about 80 km (49 mi) downstream of Khartoum. The landscape along the river is just stunning. You can take a boat ride and enjoy the view of the mountains and the nature. One can also have a picnic near the river. It is a nice place to visit but it is better to bring your own food if necessary because there is only fried fish available in the area.
SUDAN NATIONAL MUSEUM
The National Museum of Sudan was established as a museum in 1971. The building and its surrounding gardens contain the most important Nubian archaeological collection in the world comprising items from the Paleolithic through to the Islamic period. The museum have two floors and in the garden there are rebuilt temples and tombs. A place full of history.
SANGANEB NATIONAL PARK
The Sanganeb Marine National Park is located in the northern part of the Red Sea. It covers 260,700 ha with a buffer zone of 504,600 ha consisting of both marine and terrestrial areas. The fauna and flora are native from Indian Ocean but has developed a particular ecosystem and various species. The area is home to strange and spectacular reef formations and a beautiful nature.
EL KURRU TOMBS
El-Kurru, located in Northern state, Sudan, was a royal cemetery used by the Nubian royal family of Kush and Egypt’s 25th dynasty. most of the Nubian pyramids date back to the early part of the Kushite period. The area is separated into three parts by two valleys. during the medieval period, Christian Nubians carved some monograms, Christian symbols and many boats into pyramid Ku. 1.
TUTI ISLAND
Tuti Island is located in Sudan, where the White Nile and Blue Nile merge to form the main Nile. It is surrounded by Khartoum, Omdurman, and Khartoum North, also known as Bahri. It consists of a small village covered essentially with grassland. It is an agricultural island which provides Khartoum with fruits and vegetables coming from the large number of traditional farms located there.

The Ethnographic Museum is a small museum located in Khartoum, Sudan. It has a collection of objects related to the country’s ethnographic and social history. Visiting the museum will give you insights on how the different groups used to live. You will learn about their traditional houses and utensils and also their ancient life style.
