ARTISTS ALLIANCE GALLERY

The Artists Alliance Gallery has been established by the Ghanian artist Ablade Glover. It is located in Accra, the capital city. The gallery features traditional and contemporary African art. There are exhibitions of paintings made by famous African artists including Owusu Ankomah and George Hughes. It is a place you must visit if you are a fan of art.

CAPE COAST

Cape Coast is a city and a fishing port in southern Ghana. It is one of the most historical cities in  Ghana. The Cape Coast Castle which is listed as a world heritage site was built by the Swedes in 1650 and the building was serving as a lodge. Portuguese colonists also built a trading fort in the area.

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF GHANA

The National Museum of Ghana is located in Accra, Ghana. It is the largest and oldest museum of the country. The museum was officially opened in 1957 by the Duchess of kent, Princess Marina. Archeological objects dating from the Stone Age period to the recent historical past can be found in the museum. There are also items related to the country’s ethnographic history such as musical instruments, traditional textile and more.

MOLE NATIONAL PARK

Mole National Park is Ghana’s largest wildlife refuge. The park is located in the Savanah region of Ghana. Records indicate that 17,800 people visited the park in 2015 and around 40% of the visitors are foreign. Many mammal species are inhabiting the park such as elephants, hippos, buffaloes and warthogs. There are also antelopes, olive baboons, colobus monkeys etc…

Lake Bosumtwi is the only natural lake in Ghana. It lies within an ancient impact crater that is about 10.5 kilometres (6.5 mi) in diameter with a depth of approximately 380 m (1246 ft). It is about 30 km (19 mi) south-east of Kumasi and is a popular recreational area. It is considered as a sacred lake by the Ashanti people. 

LABADI BEACH

Labadi Beach, also known as the Labadi Pleasure Beach, is located in Labadi, a suburb of Accra. It is the most popular beach in Ghana. It is a clean beach with palm trees along the coast. The food is great and there are many spots to seat and relax. Labadi beach is a must visit in Accra.

KAKUM NATIONAL PARK

Kakum National Park, is a national park located in the coastal environs of the Central Region of Ghana. It covers an area of 375 sq Km (233 sq mi) and it became a national park in 1992. The area is covered with tropical forest and it is one of only 3 locations in Africa with a canopy walkway, which is 350 m (1,150 ft) long.

ELMINA CASTLE

Elmina Castle was built by the Portugueses in 1482 as Castelo de Sao Jorge da Mina (St. George of the Mine Castle) in Elmina, Ghana. It was the first trading post built on the Gulf of Guinea, and the oldest European building in existence south of the Sahara. It played a major role during the Atlantic slave trade era. The castle has been added to the UNESCO world heritage sites list because of its historical value.

Cape Three Points is a small peninsula in Western Ghana on the Atlantic Ocean. It is located between the coastal village of Dixcove and Princess Town. The peninsula is situated near an area of the sea which is at 0 latitude, 0 longitude and 0 altitude. Cape three points is  famous for its lighthouses built to help navigation through the Gulf of Guinea.

LAKE VOLTA IN GHANA

Lake Volta, is an artificial reservoir in Ghana. It covers an area of 8,502 sq Km (5,282 sq mi) and it is the largest artificial reservoir in the world based on its surface. The main islands within the lake are Dodi, Dwarf, and Kporve. On the western shore of the lake there is the Digya National Park which covers partially the shore.
